Blog inactive until October

Alrighty it is finally time to travel again. Timing is rather unusual for me but because of heavy workload I didn’t get an earlier chance. There won’t be an event on this trip, it simply means too much stress for me at the moment. There will be one coming up at the second next trip.

Now it is low season almost everywhere in SEA. Heavy rain in Thailand+Philippines and lately also had to find out that Ramadan in Indonesia is stretching into September even. It will be new stuff for me, not sure if I am going to repeat such a time frame again. The hotel rates for the far luxury end are almost the same like in high season, only for the budget hotels you can save a lot. On the positive side is that it is a massive buyers market for girls right now. Why do so many people skip this year for SEA travel in general ? Well, where to start : financial crisis, Thai political crisis, exchange rates, flight prices…

Since 5 years I never had such a long break between 2 trips like I had now. I am really ready now again to leave the mind-fuck bubble. God damn it !

Bang, Bang, Bangkok : I want your DNA (part 2 of 2)

“It is just 3.30pm and I already had sex with 3 different girls at different places. Bangkok exhausts me…” Something like this one of my first trip reports of Bangkok started with when I was just writing for a handful of good buddies.

Yeah, Bangkok is pussy paradise just everywhere in the entire city. It is the sex capital of the world.

bargirl_thaigirl_shorttime_room_globalnanpa

The sound I am always hearing in my inner ear when landing at Suvarnabhumi airport is the Streetfighter 2 arcade sound : “vrovrovro-THAI-LAND”. I made a jingle out of it for Global Nanpa. It just fits to the style.

bargirls_taxi_globalnanpa

I think the beginning scene got shot at a Nana Plaza short-time room. Someone in his room was just doing a loud “Ye-ha” when I am entering my room. Bangkok, here we go again ! I really love acting stupid in my videos. It seems like the majority of people at Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy know Global Nanpa already.

bargirls_baccara_globalnanpa

Sound for the video is “La Musica” from Munk. It is the original track. My older brother by the way did a remix for them that Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel) used for his first short movie “Remember Now”.

Alright, so check out the video :

Four Seasons hotel Bangkok : “Home, sweet home”

The first accomodation I ever stayed at in Thailand was in summer 2005, shortly after the tsunami December 2004, at Club Bamboo Phuket, a charming small boutique resort. I only had to pay a tiny rate per day for a sweet bungalow on a quiet hill close to Patong beach.
Hotel staff seemed to know some of my preferences and was calling me by my first name already on the second day. The Thai hospitality I experienced in general was extraordinary.
There I truely recognized for the first time how far your money/buying power can go in South East Asia. The luxury you can afford is remarkable : It is buying power heaven ! A buying power price index for a European is about : in Thailand 4 times what you could afford in your own country, in Indonesia it is about 5 times and in the Philippines I would say you have to multiply everything with 6 to get to German price levels.
One thing is for certain : you can also have the same fun travelling around in SEA not being on the far luxury end. A decent budget is required however if you want to avoid uncomfortable situations. Like I often said before : I would rather decrease the time frame of travels than reducing a minimum daily budget. I often also include budget hotels in my video guides because a stay there can be a positive and different experience as well.

fourseasons_hotel_bangkok_poolarea_globalnanpa

I look very stupid on this pic but the pool guard is just a true character and damn funny somehow. He doesn’t speak much English but he is a helpful and friendly person who takes his job serious. The staff at Four Seasons appears to be pretty constant. I love to see the same faces when returning to a prefered hotel. First, people/staff feel familiar, second they know you already and your preferences. Moreover I see no point in tipping staff well when being unsure if you return or if you see the person again. Tipping I mostly see as an investment for optaining future privileges : it only makes sense with a constant staff.

fourseasons_hotel_bangkok_globalnanpa

The area of the whole hotel is actually quite large. I underestimated it at first, later when doing more comparisons, I learned to appreciate the rich diversity of the hotel’s facilities and places.

executive_lounge_fourseasons_bangkok_globalnanpa

The executive lounge is not spectacular but nice. I met some open-minded and talkative guests there. Breakfast I often don’t eat because of my late nights but I tried it there once and had a surprising fun chat. I mostly really like their guests I chatted with so far.

ultimate_bangkok_suite_2_fourseasons_hotel_globalnanpa

This room is really the bomb. Maybe it isn’t as flashy as the one I had at Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, but I like it MUCH more. It got charms and a warm atmosphere. One afternoon I was just lieing on the sofa, and looking through some of their large picture books and sometimes watching the skytrain passing from the window.

workdesk_fourseasons_hotel_bangkok_globalnanpa

Moreover this room totally centers the working desk which is great. Well, I guess I am a workoholic. My SEA trips aren’t “vacation” anymore. When not getting fried my ass in Germany 24/7, I got so pervertic to build up some projects in SEA which will keep me busy. 2011 will get big. It got more difficult for me to enjoy massages when the adrenaline is constantly kicking in. Short-time this won’t be the road to happiness, but long-term it is the right path to walk on. The crazy some of  the stuff might look you see in my videos, it is all part of a plan honestly speaking, since a long time ago already actually…

Bangkok’s very finest suite : Peninsula suite, Peninsula hotel

This is an inside video look into Bangkok’s best suite you can possibly stay at. Neither the Mandarin Oriental, nor the Four Seasons can beat that with their top rooms in Bangkok.

Situated at the 34th flor, you have direct access to the rooftop and helicopter. Be careful that you don’t get lost in the 364 sm area of a very high luxury degree, you even have an own gym. The most impressive feature is probably the terrace and panoramic views over Chao Phraya river.

I have made a booking for a grand deluxe suite you see in the second video. What I saw at the Peninsula is already enough to judge that this is the best riverside hotel of Bangkok. I still placed it below Four Seasons although I will update the hotel guide after I experienced a stay there.

Thanks a lot to the very friendly and helpful Peninsula staff.

“Loving my Thai country so much” and “Farang : A Nature Mockumentary”

A guy from the Netherlands took a 1 min video that perfectly shows the beauty of the “simple Thai girl”. It is touching and it reminds us again of all the crap that western, technological advanced society brought us.

Check the video by racenemo shot in the rural part of Thailand, Isaan :

Also check a damn funny and clever satire of farang in Thailand. I hope nobody feels offended.

The shadow of equinox

Indonesian girls are the latinas of SEA. Some have really curvy bodies and mixed blood. I seem to have established a preference for girls from Bandung. These girls are hot assets and I got to know why. The girl above is from Bandung and I have one more coming up also from Bandung. Next time I want to explore the city.

Ok, let’s shortly dive into the video. It is a love declaration to Stadium Jakarta. It shows you a tiny fraction of this dark/noir/gloomy/unreal place. Stadium is the landmark of Jakarta nightlife. Everyone knows it, half hates it, the other one loves it. It is very controversial. Equinox/X2 is also included in the beginning.

german_embassy_jakarta_globalnanpa

I personally really like the video, although I don’t think it will become a popular one. Don’t worry, the stuff most are waiting for is already finished in the pipeline.

CGK : That bule is crazy !

Blok M, here we go again. Top Gun is a place everyone has to check out when going there. This bar is more fun, raunchy and real than any normal, casual bar I have seen so far across whole South East Asia. One major difference in terms of girls is that the babes you see in the bar never are employed by the bar, they are all freelancers - their own boss. There is no barfine like most newbies would expect. I think in general I prefer a freelancer spirit over a bargirl number. It has advantages like having a girl who chose herself to stay with you, paying less maybe and not being hassled with barfines/drinks. Disadvantage is that the girls have their own will if things get messy, you have no place to complain to if you get into trouble somehow and the girls at Blok M are not as tame as the ones in PI and Thailand. The guys are also raw in general. Having a look at the characters at Top Gun, My Bar, D’s, ect…, you experience it’s a very different breed than in PI, Thailand - it’s the true Star Wars bar melting pot of cultures, races and characters….

The only real downer is the beer, I very much dislike Bintang and Heineken. You are forced to drink light beer like Corona and even that you don’t get always, sometimes you find yourself having a Carlsberg in your hand. It is humiliating.

cjs_mulia_hotel_bargirl_globalnanpa

The picture above shows CJ’s where I really had a great time. Hotel Mulia can be a lot fun, it was a mistake that I didn’t check it out earlier. I like it currently more than BATS. Red Square you also see in the video. Today they are celebrating their 5th anniversary. Red Square is always a big gamble, some nights are smashing, some just bore the shit out of you. The video displays Jakarta’s naughty nightlife.

Track of the video is “N.i.C.E.” / DJ Jack Tennis / Berlin Battery. It is a very positive mood track like the entire video :

X2, 3rd year anniversary party, Jakarta

Here is a video of the 3 year anniversary party of X2, Jakarta’s biggest club. The party was sweet. Lots of flirt-hungry normal girls are always around at X2, it is an ultimate place for nanpa. The rooms are large, although lack a special atmosphere. It is recommended to go there for special events. Indonesiaclubbing is the best website for checking that.

X2 is very well managed, you also see the owner and manager in the video. X2 knows best how to handle international guests, Stadium and Dragonfly are pretty good at it as well. By chance I ran across Carson Q. there, the club ambassador. They have a cool dude there, X2 really is professional. I also saw some familiar faces from other places who now seem to do joint things with X2.

The pictures above and below I think I took at Mo Bar, Mandarin oriental during ladies night. I was sometimes so wasted that even after checking all videos and putting together the puzzle pieces I am not getting together some stuff that happened. The CD the girl above has in her hands somehow must have come into my travel bag later on. The music is cool though but I cannot remember the story behind it.

Ok, check out the video which gives you a good impression of the place and its staff.

Krung Thep : Glooom, Boom, Doom

This video got shot around mid of March 2010 shortly before the Bangkok crisis turned violent. In the next 2 months almost 100 people on both sides died, the military “ending” the red shirt protest with an armed crackdown on May 19th, storming the red shirt base camps. Beside from the human tragedy of people losing their lives, getting wounded or suffering emotional pain from family victims, Bangkok lost its largest shopping mall Central World which had been the biggest of South East Asia. It got burned by the red shirts shortly before the military crack-down happened. If the red shirts had not fled the sites many more might had been killed, it was doomed. The Dusit Thani hotel has large holes in 2 of their flors which got targeted by the red shirts with an RPG. A military sniper had shot Seh Daeng from there before, the international press having been right there. A few more sites got damaged. It is important to mention that resistance from the government was strongest to protect the city’s wall street and Bangkok Bank which didn’t got harmed. The key institution was protected best. Do you believe in the system ?

lumpini_park_globalnanpa

A military crack-down cannot solve problems. The conflict isn’t ended, it only disappeared into the non-visible like before. One thing is for sure : who controls the army, controls Thailand. The real decisive moment of Thailand’s future will come when the king dies. His son and Thaksin will then become the figures to look at again.

lumpini_park_2_globalnanpa

In the video you see a beginning scene at Lumpini park, it was shocking to see before the video from K. Todd Ruiz, reporterinexile, when the heavy armed Thai troups marched through the gate during the crackdown, May 19th.

Bangkok now probably gets a break from visible conflicts for a while which is good for business and tourism, not sure if you can call it justice. Everyone can/should have his own opinion. It is sad but pretty clear that the events of the last 2 months will hurt Thailand’s tourism, the country’s money machinery, for approximately maybe 2 years. This was worse than the tsunami, December 26th, 2004. People tend to forget natural desasters faster than political ones.

I still hope for Thailand that it recovers quickly, the land of smiles has so much beauty to offer. Like always, the conflict is hurting the wrong people. Bangkok, Krung Thep, is the world’s coolest city in my eyes. You cannot destroy its spirit. I will always love this town and its people…

Borobudur temple, Yogyakarta

Borobudur is probably the most impressive buddhistic monument you can find worldwide. It is not that large in size, what striked me most was the outlook, a peaceful scenary and the magical atmosphere. Videos and pictures cannot really capture it. It is incredible how much I saw and experienced in only 2 days Yogyakarta. I don’t feel like going there soon again, but it is good to know that there is a place like this out there where you could escape to, bringing your brain into a safe haven from mind-fuck terror.
