flipside_bangkok_taxi_tom.jpg

Richard Wilson’s trailer „Flipside“ looks like a very promising and exciting movie – with one of the most intriguing stories I have seen from this region for some time. I am amazed by the amount of cool ideas. According to him he invested years and thousands of hours into this movie. I hope that the production phase won’t take that much longer to bring this magical film to a wide audience.

„Flip-Side“ The story of Bangkok Taxi Tom;
is a soon to be shot feature length movie, now in pre-production, set in Bangkok & Isarn in Thailand in the early 90’s. Our film explores the synchronicity of how everyones lives are strangely linked together. Here is a small clip which forms the scenic backdrop to our comic film.
Outline:
‘Tom’ a teenage Amerasian war orphan - driven by hard times in his Thai north-east rural home-town, journeys to Bangkok only to find that his uncle ‘Dang’ has disappeared, and is feared dead. With his humble family on the brink of losing everything to the nefarious loan shark Wimon. Tom must find Dang and save not only his family’s soul source of income, but also the crumbling Taxi Co-op.
Guided by his faith in a precious Buddha amulet, an old pocket watch, and his need to bring his family together, Tom’s hectic quest strangely connects the lives of a budding Australian writer, a mystical migrant nut seller, a gorgeous city billboard model, the Thai Mafia and the US Vietnam Vet father he never knew. The maelstrom of a single day inter-links all our characters in a twisted synchronistic tale.
Strangely everyone thinks Tom is a Westerner, but knowing only his Thai heart, kick-starts his cross-cultural leap of faith through a tangled web of wonder, synchronicity and spirit, while his time runs out………

Today Germany will play against Spain in the European football championship. Germany will most likely lose but it is a surprise already that they came so far and even beat Portugal. I hope to see an exciting game. About half a million people are expected to celebrate at the Fanmeile in Berlin which is at the Brandenburger gate and about 5 minutes by foot from my apartment.
Currently I am doing a lot of sports. I increased my training and am now jogging every day 10km (6.2 miles). I would like to become more flexible though. I was searching for Yoga schools in Berlin and Asia and came across Absolute Yoga, Thailand’s premier and largest yoga center. I am very impressed of Benjaporn Karoonkornsakul being that successful with her yoga schools in Thailand. If I would try to start a business in south east asia it certainly wouldn’t be a bar/pub or other nightlife venue. Wellness (spas, etc.) and hospitality (hotels, restaurants, etc.) are my favorite sectors.

absoluteyoga_02.jpgabsoluteyoga_01.jpg

1 year membership at Absolute Yoga is Bt. 30.000 (560 Euros).
Amid growing demand, Absolute Yoga now boasts seven branches in Bangkok and Koh Samui, along with two branches in Singapore. The company has 30 qualified instructors and over 50,000 students participating in over 200 classes a week. The company is enjoying impressive growth of between 20-30% per year.

ABSOLUTEYOGA started after the Founder & Managing Director, Benjaporn Karoonkornsakul, discovered Hot Yoga in Hong Kong. Having experienced the miracle of yoga, she decided to leave her banking career and trained to become the first Bikram Hot Yoga teacher in Bangkok with first Hot Yoga studio opened in September 2002.
Having celebrated its 6th year anniversary, ABSOLUTEYOGA has branched out to offer the more styles of yoga than anywhere else in Thailand or Singapore. These styles, including Hot Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Hot Flow, Ashtanga & Mysore, Hatha Yoga, Anusara & Pilates are offered at 8 studios in Thailand and 2 in Singapore. Each yoga studio’s atmosphere is artfully designed to create a real yoga experience to practitioners as well as a sense of well being and serenity.

Jakarta has an enormous amount of excellent restaurants similar like Bangkok. I was able to get a slight overview of the culinary scene on my recent trip.
I just came across this very comprehensive restaurant guide by Laksmi Pamuntjak. It got published in March this year, features 440 restaurants, casual eateries and street vendors on 612 pages. It costs Rp 220.000 (about 16 Euros). I wasn’t able to find out how to buy it online. Amazon only got some older versions of the guide. It should be interesting and I would like to have a closer look.

club_stadium_jakarta_globalnanpa

„Normal“ clubbing places :

1.STADIUM, Jl. Hausann Wuruk No.3

Huge, legendary club. This place is very controversial, always full of people. I really enjoy the music and dark, gloomy atmosphere. It is like a cathedral for all “evil” minds. The owner also operates Malioboro Hotel. Stadium is an original : The world’s only place that is a club/disco, restaurant, short-time hotel all in one.

http://www.vimeo.com/6561089

2. MUSRO, Hotel Borobudur, Jalan Lapangan Banteng Selatan

Very cool, small-sized club. I wish it had more events and would be open more often.

http://www.vimeo.com/6562512

3. X2, Plaza Senyan, 4th flor

The biggest clubbing place in Jakarta, always packed with people. A bit too large for me and it has nothing that really dazzles me. Still always worth a visit for some special events. It is also a good place for nanpa with normal girls.

4. BARCODE, Le Codefin, rooftop, Jalan Kemang Raya 8

People you encounter in Kemang are extremely friendly. Place is owned by DJ Riri, Indonesia’s most famous one. Interesting place, but far away when staying near the Welcome Monument.

5. DRAGONFLY, Graha BIP

The most stylish club of Jakarta. Women dress to kill and plenty of international guests. People could be friendlier though.

6. RED SQUARE, Arcadia Plaza, Senayan complex

Popular expat club, moved upstairs. Some Bats/CJs girls hang out there also. This place gets packed at weekends and it is not that big actually, around 350 sm.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln-mK-VzaiY

7. Blowfish, Wisma Mulia, Gatot Subroto

Next to Dragonfly and had the same interior designer; Ismaya Group. Both places are stylish, it depends on your taste. Blowfish also exists in Surabaya where I like it more.

Hotel bars :

1. MO Bar, Mandarin Oriental

Most classy hotel bar. Ladies night is sweet, it can get surprisingly crowded at special events. Managed by a cool German guy.

2. BURGUNDY, Grand Hyatt Hotel

Small-sized but stylish place. Good thing about the Grand Hyatt is that it is very established and you always meet interesting people.

3. BATS, Shangri-la Hotel

Larger bar with live music and many freelancers. Feels like CM2 in BKK.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4n1GJJawx4

4. CJs, Mulia Hotel

A bit lower class than the other three, but more easy-going and relaxed atmosphere.

Bargirl places :

1. TOP GUN, BLOK M

Best bar on Blok M. Quite large, mostly around 50 girls, good pool tables and often live music.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkN3jJUJYX8

2. MY BAR, Blok M

Used to be my favorite place at Blok M in the beginning.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDwZk-4B7h4

3. D’s, Blok M

Upstairs at D’s got sadly closed now, but the place is still fun.

Here is the first promo video for Global Nanpa : Always searching for the true GFE (=girl-friend experience) - I hope you enjoy it. I just picked up my suit package from Narin Couture from the customs. When the guys figured out that the package was from Bangkok, their eyes started glowing. We made a good deal and I was out there pretty quick. Usually German regulations are really tight. A thing I often recognized around the world is that the SEA travellers are backing each other and are very friendly, hehe. I bet those guys day-dream constantly of Pattaya girls, LOL.

The resolution of the video on youtube is max 640X480. I also have it in HD ( 1920X1080 ) quality but the file would be very big then. I figured out that a resolution of 960X540 is a good compromise between quality and file size. I might put the video in such resolution later on my site for downloads :

balinese.jpg

One of the main differences between Thailand and Indonesia are that people in Indonesia are much more diverse in terms of looks, origin, behavior. Already in the airplane from Doha to Jakarta I saw really different kind of characters, much more raw than the ones I used to see on my flights to BKK.
The thing that sucks straight from the beginning in Jakarta is the heavy traffic, even worse than BKK and that a street life with shops and vendors almost doesn’t exist. Life is happening inside buildings, in shopping malls, hotels or other complexes. This is sad, because I usually enjoy just walking out of the hotel to the places I like. Not in Jakarta, without a taxi, you are lost.

I stayed at the Shangri-la again. It is a good hotel. But next time I will stay at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. I didn’t check it out last time, but this time I saw that I liked it more.
At Grand Hyatt they have the Burgundy bar, at the Shangri-la they have the Bats bar.
The freelancer scene feels a bit different than in BKK. I would say in general the freelancer girls in Jakarta are a bit more rough in general than the Thai girls, but they do look better and their bodies are more curvy. It is not difficult finding girls with big boobs – go search for that in Thailand… Normal Indonesian girls are the most good-hearted of all SEA girls, but the freelancer scene in Jakarta I find pretty rough. Some girls I have the feeling would also steal if you give them the opportunity, so watch out. Thai freelancers in the hotel bars I certainly trust more.

Nevertheless, I almost had only good experiences with the girls from Bats and Burgundy. Bats feels like CM2 in BKK, a place I actually never really liked. It is the same for me with Bats, strangely I still visited that place often maybe because I simply stayed at the Shangri-la. There is also a girl working I knew from last August and I stayed with her a night again. She is a very charming person, I hope to see her again.
Burgundy is smaller, comparable with Spasso in BKK – a bit more classy than Bats I would say.

Blok M, a street with about 10 bars is cool. But it is not as safe as BKK. Some strange things happen inside the bars as well. In Thailand you are used that mostly only farangs or Japanese are inside of these places. In Jakarta, many Indonesian guys and plenty of other people are inside as well. It is a lot more diverse and feels pretty much out of this world. Manila has nothing in comparison as well.
Best place at Blok M is Top Gun from my point of view. I got allowance of the owner to shortly shoot video there. I missed to visit that place last time. I was too much stuck at My Bar there.
The girls are not the prettiest there, but it is also not expensive. Be careful, not all of the girls seem trustworthy to me. Better stick to short-time. I got scammed by a runner from Top Gun once who just pissed off after I went clubbing with her. In Thailand they stick more to the rules.

The best girls you can find in Indonesia are the normal girls : you can search for them in shopping malls or in normal clubs for example. Jakarta is a fantastic clubbing town, it reaches the same class as Bangkok and it is certainly better than Manila.
Some of the best clubs are Dragonfly at Graha BIP, Red Square at Arcadia Senyan, X2 at Plaza Senyan, X-lounge/Vertigo at Plaza Semangi. K7 I had no time anymore to visit and Stadium is a place full of dXXXX.
The nightlife in Jakarta is much more uncontrolled. In BKK, Pattaya it is more like Disneyworld managed by a few powerful interest groups. There is no such thing in Jakarta, there are lots of people with certain influence and power who are all playing there but it is not controlled by any single force. This makes it in a way interesting but also more dangerous.

At Red Square I met a French guy who looked like a model but already had been 10 years in Indonesia. He was there together with a very high police officer. They let me join their table and I partied and talked a long time with them. Greetings to your crew if you read those lines - sorry that I could not stay. They had 2 Indonesian models with them, probably the 2 prettiest babes I had seen on the entire trip. Jakarta is a true jungle…
I have the feeling that I will meet them again. I am curious how things develop there.
It is funny that one day before I was at Red Square, some football players of Bayern Munich, Germany’s most famous football club, had been there because they were playing a friendship game against Indonesia shortly before. Germany got a very good reputation in Indonesia – many German and French people work there. The No.2 guy of the Grand Hyatt Hotel Jakarta is actually half German. He was flying to Germany the same day I did, more strangely he was even in the same plane and he flew back from BKK like me. I was totally shocked to see him coming out of the plane.
In the airplane I was sitting next to a Russian consultant doing business in Jakarta. Doing business in Indonesia must be exciting.
I have a good friend from Jakarta who is living on the same street as general Suharto. They own a herbal drug pharmaceutical company there. I had dinner with him. About half of his time he is now in Singapore because his wife and baby is also there. It was awesome to see him again. I met him back in 2002 at MIT. I wish I could see him more often. Email alone simply is not the same as seeing the people. It was good that he gave me a real trashing about all the shit I was doing Tokyo and elsewhere.

On vacation and when drunk I turn pretty much into a maniac mode. I think my craziest night was the night before going to Bali. I sadly didn’t take any video that night. I could punch myself for that ! I started at Dragonfly where they had a VIP party. That club looks extremely cool. Jakarta really does not need to hide behind BKK. Dragonfly is the shit and the girls dress stunning. Jakarta girls in general dress to kill. Bangkok girls always have that jeans and simple shirt combination. In Jakarta the girls impress with dresses or beautiful skirts and nice shoes. Fashion awareness is much better in Jakarta.
So, after partying hard at Dragonfly I went to X2, maybe currently the best party place in Jakarta.
The manager of Burgundy is actually the former manager of X2. I talked to him and I also talked to the assistant manager of X2. I was dancing really crazy there and a lot of my memories got deleted from my X2 time. Next day I got messages from a girl I could not remember. My mobile already displayed her name and not only a number which means I must have saved her name that night already. She told me that the assistant manager told her that I gave a high amount of money that night to security ( 3 million RP ). I actually don’t know why I did that. She and the manager also didn’t know why I did that. Well, never mind. I came back probably around 5 am to the hotel. At 6 am I found myself in my boxers on the Horizon Club flor. I must have gotten out of my room and sleep-walking. That also happened to me at the JW Marriott in BKK about 2 years ago. But there my ex-gf found me on the flor and brought me back in. This time I had to call someone from the Horizon club flor phone to let me in again. Embarrassing…
Wake up call 7 am. Nice, another night with no sleep and almost a break down again at the airport. I was very happy when I landed with Air Asia on Bali. I stayed at Kuta Beach at the Mercure hotel. The hotel is ok, there simply is no good hotel on Kuta Beach. But location is always very important for me and the Mercure has an excellent location on Kuta and the prize is reasonable. I had a sea view room there which was ok but not a place where I like to stick around longer than necessary. Still, I think I will be coming back because there is nothing better prize/value related out there. I will only also spend a few days in a hotel in Ubud or another place as well and enjoy a few days of pure relaxation and in a better hotel with a private pool, etc.

Bali is a big island. It reminds me of Phuket, Thailand. But Bali is bigger and there is more to do and see on Bali. Nightlife is also very good on Legian street but not as big as maybe Bangla road. Still I like Bali more than Phuket. The beach is nice but not as beautiful as Boracay. Boracay is the No. 1 beach worldwide I have seen so far. On Bali there are again very diverse tourist groups – you won’t see that in Thailand. There are many Japanese girls who look for some fun (even saw some with Indonesian men sex slaves, hehe ) and there are lots of Australians, some of them own business on Bali. The non Indonesian girls on Bali are very hot, but it is not easy to approach them. The j-girls also more look out for the surfer guys which I am not. The Indonesian girls are very sweet. I think many of the girls on Bali look for a romance with a nice Bule. I had the feeling that the girls here are more real than a lot girls in Jakarta. Of course they don’t dress so good here, but it is more relaxed and easy going. The girls will be happy to take you on their motor-bikes around the island. Damn, one girl was speeding with me on the back. I was really afraid, gladly I had a helmet. In retroprespective this was a very good time. I want to get back to Bali next year. This time I stayed with far too many girls, mostly picking them up from dancing clubs like Bounty, Paddy’s or Embargo. I think next time I would stick only with 1-2 girls for a week. I even met a freelancer at Paddy’s who had been working in BKK and Pattaya at Marine disco as a freelancer. She was hot and it was fun to chat about Pattaya and her life in Bali now. I was also flirting with 2 waitresses. I think they were really nice girls and I am still in good touch with them.
The spas in Bali are amazing. Thailand and Indonesia are the best in the world for spa massage quality. A spa I went often to was the Hidden Spa Oasis at Kuta. I always had a four hands massage (non-dirty) package there. I was in heaven.
Bali feels very safe, much safer than Jakarta. On the street Legian where a lot clubs are, a bomb exploded a few years ago. But I would not be too worried, it can always happen everywhere.
Places I visited on Bali were Kuta, Ubud, Semanyak, Nusa Dua. There is a lot to see on this island and takes quiet some time to get there. Next time I try to explore more.

When I was back in Jakarta on some days I had appointments with 4 girls on a single day. All girls I met at different places. This was almost stressfull. Next time I try to go more slowly. These girls are also pretty much into stalking. They sit around in the Shangri-la lobby and watch you when you go out. They also have their informants everywhere. That reminded me of Thailand. When I sit a while somewhere at lower Sukhumvit, it often won’t take long until I get the first SMS of some girls channeling into my mobile asking me where I am and what I am doing.

I think Thailand is a much more livable country. For longer stays Thailand is the best country of whole SEA in my eyes. The prettiest babes of whole SEA are Indonesian girls. The best English speaking ones and the closest ones to our culture are Filipinas. So make your own pick or do it like me and just try to visit them all.

My travel started in BKK. I simply like to fly in and out of Asia over BKK. It is a very organized and efficient airport. It is always a good feeling to start and end a journey from there.

After arrival at the Dream Hotel, I wanted to get a massage and tried the new BKK Teen Massage parlor at Sukhumvit Soi 33 – they have 3 parlors now. Had a 4 hands massage and a good time with the 2 girls.

Afternoon places I checked out more closely this time were Siam Square and the shopping mall Siam Paragon. Shopping malls start to bore me, especially in Bangkok. Siam Paragon is a great shopping mall but the kind of stores look same same to me like everywhere else in the world. But the restaurants in there and food court is pretty good.
Siam Square is a great place for nanpa. If I had more time I would have invested more visits to this area – maybe I do that next time. A lot of Uni girls from Chulalongkorn University hang out there. Get a fruit juice and stand around lost and girls will most likely talk to you. This is a totally different game than visiting Nana Plaza or Soi Cowboy. I like both worlds and both kind of girls.

What I love most about Thai girls is their sanook habit. They are the best party girls of whole Asia. I mostly have a great time dancing and partying with them. They know how to have fun and how to take things easy.

I checked out a handful of bars at Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy. Things didn’t change much compared with my last visit. It is always amazing for me to see so many people, girls and guys, walking around in those districts. In Indonesia and Philippines the market for such kind of entertainment is a lot smaller, but that doesn’t mean it is worse. It is simply different.

I went clubbing almost every day at places like RCA (808 rocks), Thong Lo, Ekkamai, San Luang. I don’t want to bore you writing about everything in detail.

Checked out G-clubs again like Pent, Forte and Exotica. It is quiet surprising for me that most customers there actually are not that old. Most Thai friend groups must be in their early or mid 30s. I expected the age average to be older in those places before. The kind of people are also interesting. You can find entrepreneurs, bankers, consultants, managers of the most respected Thai companies there. It seems to be the common thing among Thais to go to such places, partying and flirting with the girls. Damn, Thailand rules ! In other countries a lot of companies would not be happy to have their reputation getting hurt if their employees frequent such places.

At Bed Supperclub I surprisingly met a movie star, a guy who acted in several martial art movies. He showed me some of his scenes on his mobile. This guy was cool and tough. He actually came to our table with 2 hot chicks and he went out with one.

I bought a suit and a few shirts at Narin Couture which is located between Sukhumvit Soi 8 and 10. He shipped the package to Germany and I hope it arrives this week.

Another afternoon spot I was hanging out at is the Sukhumvit Soi 5, Sukhumvit Soi 7 area : Beergarden, Gullivers, etc. It is nice to play pool there, just to relax and to regain some energy.

I try to write a bit more about my Indonesia trip. If you have questions, feel free to leave a comment or send an email.

My travel actually didn’t start in Tokyo, but this is the place were some strange things happened to me and I feel like to write about it first, although my most striking experiences I had in Indonesia this time.
I came to Tokyo from Bangkok with Thai Airways.
The last night in BKK I partied hard with a girl I knew from a previous trip and first we had some drinks at a bar at Sukhumvit 7/1 and later went to Bed Supperclub. Came back to the Dream Hotel around 3.30 am and had a wake up call at 5 am. Like most days in my vacation, I never slept more than 5 hours, partied almost every day and got drunk as well almost every time.
The girl from BKK had her menstruation but that didn’t stop us. My jeans had quiet a bit of blood marks later. I was totally crashed when the wake up call came and was no way able to pack my bag again, so I just wore the same stuff as the day before, including the fresh blood marked jeans.
Airport in BKK was no problem, they are used to crazy farangs like me, on the flight I just tried to relax and not to disturb anyone. Immigration in Tokyo was really tough in my condition : It was crowded, warm and I had to wait almost 1 hour in line. I actually thought I would be passing out before I made it there. With my last energy reserves and extreme high tension in my muscles I finally made it through, picked up my baggage, exchanged money and out of there. The airport is quiet far away and it took me almost 1 1/2 hours to get to my hotel in Shibuya, the Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel.
They gave me a wing room on the executive flor which was nice.
Places I visited in Tokyo were Shibuya, Akihabara, Ginza, Shinjuku, Kabukicho, Harajuku, Roppongi.
Shibuya is a shopping place, if you know Bangkok it feels like Siam Square. Many girls going for shopping with fashion stores and small restaurants. The normal clubbing nightlife in Shibuya is also the best. On Maruyamacho street you find clubs like Club Asia, Club Womb and Club Module is also not so far away.
Akihabara is nerd heaven und they have many electronic stores and mangas. I really enjoyed Akihabara. Roppongi was actually a bit disappointing, I like Kabukicho more. There is quiet a lot of entertainment to be found there.
The girl bars are a pure rip-off, you pay a lot money for drinks, only to have a girl sit next to you. Don’t come to Japan for girl bars or shows.
The massage parlors are quiet ok, not that expensive but they don’t reach the Thai standard from my point fo view. Tested a few and was mediocre satisfied.
What I really enjoyed in Tokyo was the food ! I love Japanese food in general, noodle bowls, sushi, teppanyaki. I adore it and it is actually not that expensive. Especially those very tiny restaurants with only a small number of seats I frequented often and never was disappointed.
The girls in Tokyo dress pretty good. A lot girls in business outfits and others in contrast dress really bitchy although they are not really approachable. I think going for nanpa and dating a normal girl is the thing to go for in Tokyo. Simply forget paid sex here.
Some people told me it is very easy for me to do nanpa here. I actually found it rather hard, most difficult especially because there is not much to say if they don’t speak a word of English and your Japanese is non-existent. If you stay longer in Japan it is probably a lot easier.
I had a strategy to overcome my difficulties : First I needed to get into drunk mode and then trying to meet some Japanese guys who could help me with doing nanpa.
I was running around Shinjuku and somewhere met a group of Japanese people who were dressed in suits but looked around mid 20s. I later found out that they are a band named Juke Joint Jive band. Very much apologies to you guys if you read those lines and I behaved bad in my intoxicated condition. You guys are cool and I had a lot fun !
We soon figured out that we were too many and split up and I only did nanpa with 2 of the band members. Even with their help it wasn’t so easy. It took me 7 tries and then it finally worked and a cute J-girl joined us for drinks until 5 am and we even had a bowl of noodles together the next morning. Ah, Shibuya at 5 am, that was an experience, damn, will never forget that watching the sunrise after a hard party night.
The band gave me a CD of them as a present and I told them they should keep on looking for a video named “out of control in Tokyo” on youtube, hehe.
Next evening I went on alone again and ventured into a small bar in Shibuya were only Japanese people were inside. I was flirting a bit with a cute girl there.
Checked out Heartland, Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills and also tested maid cafes in Shibuya, Akihabara. At Heartland a lot of bankers seem to gather but I didn’t see many girls. A hot waitress works there. The maid cafes are fun afternoon places, loved them.
The night that really destroyed me started in Roppongi in a quiet well known tourist/expat bar named Gaspanic. I already got quiet drunk there, tipped like crazy and met an Australian guy and a Japanese guy and we decided to rock the house in the best clubs of Shibuya. So we went to Maruyamacho street and to Club Asia. Had a total blast there. I think we also made a short stop at Club Womb and later went to Club Module, an electronic music club. I am not so sure anymore where we did go from there. I have videos that we were in company of 2 girls afterwards and went to another club. Maybe it was Gaspanic again ? Here my last video got shot which is completely dark, music running in the back and the camcorder shuts down automatically (it probably was still in my jeans ?) which means I probably didn’t know anymore what is was doing.
I must have got drugged at this place, probably something that has been in my drink. The effect of the drug lasted almost 48 hours. I didn’t lose conscious but in this kind of state you do everything someone tells you and you don’t recognize it anymore. So it is not a knock-out drug, it is something much more dangerous. I would have signed my life away if I could to that time. I had around 1200 Euros cash money with me that night. That’s gone. The hotel told me that I was entering my room with a woman, she must have taken the money in my safety box (me opening it for her) in which I had around 7000 Euros in different currencies. Gladly my laptop wasn’t stolen because it was not in the safety box and I had placed it somewhere else. Maybe she was also only interested in cash und credit card.
My American Express credit card got charged with 185.000 Euros that day !!!
Sometime in the afternoon I came back slightly to normal/realization mode in my hotel room, saw the safety box open and simply couldn’t believe and remember me opening it. I called my credit card company who told me about the scam and I asked them to block everything, talked to the hotel staff, went to the Shibuya police station to report the case. The drug was still very aggressive inside of me and it was difficult to have a clear thought, I was in extreme fear of myself that I am going to die. My younger brother called me and was totally shocked how insane this drug made me and he was not sure if I could make it back to the airport alone. He called the German embassy for me and a very cool and friendly German representative of the embassy brought me back to the airport, taking a one-way flight back to Germany with Lufthansa for 2000 Euros. It was worth the money, in that condition everything could have happened to me. I couldn’t hold a clear thought longer than 3 seconds and I couldn’t read my watch anymore, nor calculate anything. I was speaking to the German embassy person in 3 languages at the same time. He was very very helpful and friendly. I hope someday I have the chance to give something back for his help. In the state I was in, it really, really was difficult to deal with me…
I was glad when I was back alive in Germany, only with a cash loss of 7000 Euros. In retroperspective I think it was a good experience. I mean what are 7000 Euros ? Get married with the wrong girl and you lose 1/3 or 1/2 of ALL your money. Or get a child and 7000 Euros won’t even last for 1 year school tuition. I think I am living the right life for myself. But I never want to experience such an extreme thing again. I caused a lot trouble, simply because I was stupid and not cautious enough.
In Thailand and Indonesia I was more cautious but I thought Tokyo would be 100% safe and I don’t have to watch out much – big mistake. Next time I simply won’t take so much cash with me anymore.
The German embassy wrote something on their website as a warning. Just be cautious guys, Tokyo is less safe than Bangkok in my eyes when you enter the nightlife.

After spending 3-4 days in Germany I felt ok again, realized my mistakes and decided to fly with a 1-way ticket back to Jakarta with Qatar Airlines. Ticket was only 450 Euros and I really enjoyed flying with that airlines.
Everything was booked and pre-paid already, so it would have been a waste to stay in Germany although my family, friends would had prefered that. I didn’t wanted to miss Bali and in the end it turned out it was good that I finished the trip like it was booked originally.

Here is a link of the video i cut together. I will put it later in higher resolution on this website.

This is my first post since quiet some time. I took a longer break and visited Thailand, Japan and Indonesia.

A lot of rather unbelievable things happened during this trip and I am glad I was not too lazy with the camera. I shot around 200 short clips. I am not sure yet, how many clips that will be in the end after editing. I just arrived and it will take some time to go through the material, to think back about the things that happened and to write up a story that could fill a book in terms of happenings. I am not a good writer anyway, but from my point of view a picture is a worth a thousand words and a video a million words. As the youtube resolution is only 640X480, I will put some videos in higher resolution on this page. I hope you enjoy it but don’t expect nudity. I would be happy to talk about everything you would like to know more in detail.

On this trip I got drugged, scammed, robbed worth 192.000 Euros, but luckily could get back everything except 7000 Euros of stolen cash. Talked to police officers about weird topics, had to bribe my way out of clubs, etc… I am not too proud of that, it only shows you the extreme edge I was going. I also want to apologize to all the people I was pissing off along the way : Especially to my family, the German embassy, good friends I dissapointed and all the people I talked to in intoxicated conditions. I never ever want to do such an extreme trip again. Next time I will go more slowly. I also owe that to my friends, family.

It will take some time to bring back the memories and to be able to write about it. The whole trip appears like a dream and not like reality just 1 day after being back in my old life. Take care friends
