Jakarta : The Big Durian – you’re my breakfast
The time in Jakarta, the big durian, was smashing again.
In recent posts I already wrote about the most important stuff you need to know about Jakarta, so I won’t repeat myself and in general only write about new knowledge and recent developments.
The video gives you a good idea of the places I visited like Taman Mini, Istiqlal mosque, planetarium, Kimia Farma, RS Mitra, Blok M, several clubs like X2, Dragonfly, Stadium, Vertigo/Xlounge where the main video part comes from, Centro, Red Square, etc., spas like Alexis hotel…. several restaurants…malls like Plaza Indonesia and Ratu Plaza.

I met a few really cool people, a graphic designer girl L. with whom I stayed for a few days. She was very thoughtful, smart and introduced me to some cool places. Thanks again.
I also managed 1 unwanted hospital visit during this trip, getting into RS Mitra which is mainly Australian owned. It is one of the best hospitals in Indonesia next to Siloam hospitals. However the quality is still about one star below the top hospitals in Thailand like Bumrungrad or hospitals in Singapore like Raffles.

My best clubbing experience this time I had at Centro, X-Lounge/Vertigo and Stadium. The people at Dragonfly are sadly often too snobby and too much interested in about themselves.
I tried to meet the Stadium/Malioboro owner but it didn’t work out that time. It is very difficult to approach him, you have to pass dozens of mobs before. I got into an unwelcome situation along the way and decided to stop at a certain time.
The best dirty spa is Alexis hotel in my eyes. This place is so exciting that I will dedicate an entire post to it later on. It is smaller but cooler than the SEA master of luxury massage parlors : Poseidon in Bangkok. Greetings to Didi and Florence, the managers at Alexis spa.

Grand Indonesia Mall is quiet new and next to the Grand Hyatt Hotel. This whole area is like Siam Paragon in Bangkok, luxury high-end shopping which doesn’t fascinate me that much anymore actually. If you look for electronics go to Ratu Plaza, for camera/video equipment go to Doss (digital one stop solution), 3rd flor. Electronics are quiet expensive because of the import tax. An Apple laptop is totally unaffordable for most normal people there.

My time in Jakarta is always so intense that I need to leave the place after a few days and come back after short breaks.
Enough said, so check out the video :

HUHHHH, now that is STRANGE.
DEJAVU.
Wikipedia was really fast with the Jakarta bombing entry from today. Can you change history by letting people believe lies how you want the world to be seen ?
Yes you can. Yes we can.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Jakarta_bombings
Read that interesting Economist “A bloody wake-up call” article :

Islamistic terror groups again making such precise, timely coordinated attacks ?? Does it remind you of the Bali bombings ? Yep, yep, yep…
From the Economist : “The Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton were said to be among the most secure hotels in Jakarta. Elsewhere, however, the ubiquitous security checks at hotels and office blocks in the city centre had often become perfunctory: a mirror on a stick would be wafted under cars entering the grounds; at lobbies, bags would be scrutinised only cursorily and beeping metal-detectors simply ignored.”
That is very true. Everyone who had been recently staying in a 5-star Jakarta hotel knows that security was always still tight, even too tight in my eyes. From my point of view, it is absolutely impossible to make it with a bomb getting into the JW Marriott Jakarta.
It must had been an inside job with lots and lots of helpers along the way. Islamist terrorists being networked with major foreign US hotels ? Forget it !
Marriott always sucked with their policy, the owner family/management could be up for everything if you ask me. Why they could’nt blow the Grand Hyatt, the No.1 hotel in Jakarta ??? Because management there would not play any CIA/Israeli bullshit pseudo attacks ! Yeah we know about your shit !
What interest do they have doing this right now :
They want to destabilize the region.
The recent election of the president went really smooth. The country is on its way to become really strong.
This incident keeps the war on terror idea awake, second the CIA made too many mistakes with their Bali bombings and too many people got suspicious, so what’s the best next step for doing it better/correcting it : Blowing Indonesia another time at a location where you will most likely believe that some Al-Quaeda connected terror groups would attack some US/Australian upper class guys.
It is so easy to understand if you open your eyes.
The day will come when Indonesia gets justice for those inside job attacks. Don’t feel too safe : MEN BEHIND THE CURTAIN….

Your documentation of travel experiences is quite impressing, obviously your pharma business is running quite well…
Anyhow I like your quality approach to things. You don’t regard girls as sex machines but as fascinating personalities which deserve to be treated respectfully. And that’s what they are.
I was thinking whether I could benefit from your wide spread experience in SEA. Me I have only been - mostly for business - to Taiwan, Vietnam, China, Hongkong, Korea and Thailand. But not to Indonesia and the Philippines which might be interesting as well. I think Thailand is to much brand marked for sex tourism. Full of German Hausmeister, retired Studienräte, Busfahrer or Straßenverkehrsamtsleiter. They are wearing shorts and Sandalen. I am really scared to meet such crowd during vacation. I like to mingle with local people. But it’s not that easy. Often there is only black and white. Places with prostitutes or others with well established locals. In the later ones it is often a nogo for the girls to talk to foreigners.
As I love dancing and especially electronic music what I would really like is to find some sort of Ibiza in SEA. Cool people, cool ambiance and cool sounds. Is that existing?
I like your video “Koh Chang, Loh Krathong 2008: A tribute to O.” Iki - that’s how I understood her name - the Ladyboy in the beginning of the video is great (Don’t get me wrong: Nicht das ich Lust auf die hätte, aber sie hat eine super sympathische Ausstrahlung”).
