Momay had a great time there. It was her first try but I bet she will visit Flowhouse more often. Momay got a nice shape, and what an ass. Sweet !

I liked the vibe of the place. The Thai youth are behaving well, it’s in general not the style of the Thais to be very loud, wild and showing off as maybe you know it from US male youth or college guys.

The people that stand behind Flowhouse Bangkok are good, I spoke with a few. They are really excited about it and got some fine ideas.

Toon is a good teacher of the sport. I saw her helping plenty of kids and she seems to give some good advice for learning it more quick.

When I watched the people there, I got reminded a bit of some old days when I was skateboarding (years 9 to 13). That is a long time ago and I never was really good at it, but it was fun still. At weekends there were a bunch of kids all skateboarding in our area and we had a self-constructed ramp for some jumps and grinds.

Flowhouse is on Sukhumvit Soi 26, at A-Square. It’s a very hip place since they opened September 2012. It was a success from the very start and it seems to fit well into Bangkok.
The sport has the look of surfing, the ride of snowboarding, the tricks of skateboarding, and boards derived from wakeboarding. The first Flowrider opened 1991 in Texas, USA. Currently there are more than 100 Flowrider installations around the globe.

Toon Wera, a pro rider and Momay are showing us the place and sport a little. In Bangkok, 10% of the customers are females, around 40% of the people are below 18-years-old which shows the high attraction for them – and they simply got more free time.
It’s not too expensive and the food/drinks are pretty ok as well.

I am happy with the photo result, I am planning to do more, occassional shoots outside of Bangkok.

For the “Army Girls” I focused more on photos than on video. It’s really hard to simulate cool video action stuff with my little preparation time, resources and considering the skill set of the models. It’s often easier trying to work out interesting photos in such case. Anyway, I mainly see it for pleasure. I could imagine returning to Khao Yai / Pak Chong, it’s a good place for relaxation.

Army Girls I Khao Yai -2-3

Khai Yai National Park is Thailand’s oldest and most popular national park. We went to Haew Suwat waterfall, driving close to it shortly before the area got closed, so luckily there weren’t many people around. A scene of the “The Beach” was filmed at Heo Narok and Haew Suwat as well – not that many people seem to know that. The jungle-like setting was fantastic for the shoot, we were climbing a little around. Speaking of climbing, we also saw some monkeys on the road.
Afterwards we went to Smoke House, a large, upscale Italian restaurant which was pretty good. I was amazed how fast they served the guests, they employ a large number of staff.

Army Girls I Khao Yai -1-3

I enjoyed my time in Khao Yai a lot. The people are very friendly and it is a peaceful and beautiful area, reminding of Tuscany, Italy at times. Of course there isn’t too much to do in Pak Chong : a bit of relaxation, some golf courses and a few decent restaurants – that’s basically it. The shoot itself compared with my usual stuff in Bangkok was pretty relaxed, in general I prefer locations where not so many people are eventually around. Moroever the mild climate didn’t let me sweat too much. It was nice to work with Nokky and Sa. Sa is a little better for photos than for video, Nokky is pretty good for both. They are funny and cheerful girls. Nokky looks a little like the younger sister of Emma whom you know from the “Sporty Girls” video. The smile and her face look similar.

Daniel and I agree on that 99% of Thais living/working abroad would always love to come back to Thailand eventually. They mostly use all their vacation or other opportunities to come back and to spend their money back “at home”. It’s mainly a move to earn more money to go abroad, for marriages with foreigners I consider it to be the same main reason.
Mimi seems to be that 1% exception, she declared the USA her home when she went there 12 years ago and got plenty of friends there now. She still visits Thailand often to take care of some of her older family members. She even considered bringing one to the US which is hellish expensive.
When a nurse has to fly along, you have to pay business class for both and expect more extra charges. Just calculate with a minimum of around USD 10k if you want to bring an older, a little handicapped person from Thailand to the USA. It’s totally unaffordable for 99.99% of the Thais.
I don’t want to be offensive with Mimi but Daniel’s face/gesture at 7:19 min is just hilarious. I had to crack myself up when cutting this together. See you later bro.

Daniel is assisting Mimi a bit during the cooking process. For him and me it’s more a learning experience. Daniel is still better than me in the kitchen, I think he is doing all that quite well and he asks reasonable questions. Cooking at home is very different from cooking in a professional restaurant kitchen. Mimi is cooking around 200 to 250 Pad Thais in 2-3 hours at her restaurant during lunchtime, they only have about 2 minutes for 1 Pad Thai. They sell it pretty cheap for NYC price levels, a Pad Thai for USD 8, a Tom Yam Goong costs USD 4 and a Som Tam USD 5. Fresh vegetables often come from Florida and some dealers in Chinatown in NYC and LA are very good at providing all the stuff you need for Thai restaurants. In Europe it’s definitely harder to get supplied with the necessary, fresh ingredients of Thai dishes. There are plenty of Thai restaurants in Germany and Berlin, but I honestly have to admit that I never ate at a single one that I found to be very good and I gave up trying them.

We bought all the neccessary stuff for our cooking show at Klong Toey Market, Bangkok’s biggest market. This market is a little adventure, there is plenty to see and smell. It was damn hot : Daniel and I got pretty sweaty but it was totally worth it to get the experience. They sell so much interesting stuff there like rare ants eggs for example or check out that Thai dude below sleeping near the watermelons. At markets as such you get a good feel of the vibe of the city. I love it. Yeah and price levels are incredible cheap, I doubt anywhere else in the world you can buy the shown stuff at this high quality and low price. Bangkok is unique and fantastic !

I still have not much knowledge about cooking and food, so I got some help of Mimi and Daniel. Daniel is from England and lives around 9 months per year in Bangkok for around 7 years now. Mimi lives since 12 years in NYC, USA. She owns a Thai restaurant in Midtown Manhattan named Chai Home Kitchen which she opened in 2007.
